SALAKIDA
Salakida is a native of Oakland,California, living in Atlanta, GA. A gifted lyricist and vocalist, her talents have allowed her to travel the world, writing and sharing stages with some of the most promising new names in Soul music, as well as some R&B pioneers, including Dwayne Wiggins (Tony Toni Tone), Jaguar Wright, Kenny Lattimore, Allen Anthony, Tre Hardsen (Pharcyde), Blackalicious, Anthony David (Brash Music) PJ Morton, Algebra (Kedar Entertainment), Joi, and many more. Her sound is a flowing mix of R&B, pop-soul, hip-hop, folk, and you-name-it that she calls Blippie Funk, or “Black Hippie Funk”. A self described free spirit, love is often the theme of her semi-autobiographical tunes, from the heartfelt “Diamond in The Rough” where she tells a lover that real love is more than a big bank account, to the haunting “Everybody Lies” where she’s asking her partner to be forgiving, because “…we both know/that everybody lies, sometimes”. The first single from the album is the true love anthem “Like Heaven”, also featured on Atlanta Aphilliates DJ Jamad’s Afromentals 20: Afro Picks.
